Annawan Grade School was recently awarded a $750 project grant from the Illinois Retired Teachers Foundation. This year the Association received 162 teacher grant applications. Annawan Grade School was one of the few selected for funding.
Our school project consisted of the purchase of multiple sets of 14 board, card, and dice games for a “game library”. A total of 80 games were purchased with the money. Older students will learn how to play the games and then teach the games to classes of younger students. With multiple sets, a whole class will have the opportunity to learn and play the same game at the same time. Playing games encourage critical thinking, problem solving, participation, communication, and strategic planning. Math and reading skills can also be reinforced during game play.
We want to thank the IRTAF for their generous donation for our project.
We also want to thank Geneseo Farm and Fleet for helping us “get the most for our money”!
Play on!

Hurricane Relief effort:
The Annawan and Wethersfield school communities will be teaming up along with the American Red Cross this week to help the people who have been affected by the recent hurricanes. On Wednesday, 10/16, at the Annawan/Wethersfield volleyball game and on Friday, 10/18, at the RW/AW varsity football game, donations of canned goods, water, and boxed meals will be taken. A donation table will also be set up in the gates at both events.

Hurricane Relief Effort - High School Football 10/11 at Farmington:
Reposting from Farmington - The hurricane victims in the Florida area need our help! Wondering how you can provide support?? Tomorrow night at the Annawan-Wethersfield/Farmington football game, we will have a Salvation Army vehicle located at the front entrance for you to drop off items that they will use to put together disaster boxes for those in need. We are asking that the communities of Annawan, Kewanee and Farmington show how much we care by doing our part. Here are the list of items they need: Boxes of Cereal – standard size box, not family size, Canned Meat (chicken, tuna, etc), Peanut Butter, Canned Soup, Boxed Meals (mac & cheese, hamburger helper, etc), Canned Fruits & Vegetables, Granola Bars, Paper Towels and Toilet Paper. Every donation helps!

Please cheer on Laylah Kraft as she participates in Class 1A IHSA Girls' Golf Sectional. Best of luck to her today as she competes!
We are proud of you, Laylah!
Best of luck!
