ACT and pre-ACT Testing - Tuesday, April 21 and Wednesday, April 22
As part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and Illinois State accountability requirements, all Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors are required to participate in statewide testing each spring.
For Juniors, this also serves as a free opportunity to take the ACT and report it to prospective colleges and universities. Freshmen will take the preACT 9, Sophomores will take the pre-ACT secure and Juniors will take the ACT.
Please note this is a two day testing period. Parents please do not schedule appointments or travel for April 21 and April 22. Thank you!
The baseball game scheduled today (3/19) at Rock Falls has been postponed due to wet grounds.
Due to the last two days of weather and the use of e-learning days, pre-k will be doing their screenings Wednesday and Thursday. There will be no pre-k classes on Wednesday or Thursday this week.

Due to the forecast of blizzard-like conditions for today (3/15) and tomorrow (Monday, March 16), Annawan Schools will utilize an E-Learning day on Monday, March 16th. Please encourage your student(s) to log into their Google Classrooms and/or check their classroom learning activities matrix. Remain safe as we look forward to better, future Spring weather.
The games scheduled with EP on Monday, March 16 have been cancelled due to cold weather that is forecasted for the area.

All after school activities have been cancelled due to the forecast of severe weather moving into the area tonight.
Dear Families and Community Members,
As spring approaches, so does the increased possibility of severe weather. I would like to take a moment to remind everyone of our procedures for weather alerts while students are in school.
If severe weather requires us to shelter in place (such as during a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning), our top priority is the safety of all students and staff. Once students and staff are safely sheltered, we will provide updates to the community through our district’s social media channels.
During these situations, we kindly ask that parents do not come to the school to pick up their children while the shelter-in-place protocol is in effect. For safety reasons, all students and staff—including our office staff—will be in designated shelter areas, and school doors will remain secured until the warning has passed.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work together to keep everyone safe.
