5. Substitute Teachers

The softball game scheduled for today (4/26) at AFC has been cancelled.
Baseball today (4/26):
Today's baseball game at AFC will now be varsity followed by JV. JV has been moved to AFC.
AW Baseball and Softball schedule updates:
4/29: Baseball time changed to 10:00. Game played in Oneida
5/1: Softball make up with United at 4:30, Baseball with United 4:30 both in Annawan. JV BB will play in Oneida.
5/2: JV Baseball to Rockridge 4:30 start time.

SEEKING A NEW BOARD MEMBER
On Tuesday, May 2 the Annawan Board of Education will hold a special meeting to reorganize. Reorganization meetings are routinely held every 2 years, after local elections. The board will have no new members to seat but will have one open 2 year term that needs an appointment. Time is of the essence. If no local volunteer is found, the Regional Office will take control of the appointment process. If the Regional Office of Education is unsuccessful at filling the vacancy, then the Illinois State Board of Education will look for an appointee.
No township in our school district can be represented by more than 3 board members. Currently, Annawan township has 3 representatives. Therefore, this appointment MUST COME FROM OUTSIDE ANNAWAN TOWNSHIP.
School board work is important to local residents. The board ensures taxpayers have representation, sets policy of governance, and oversees district success. The Annawan school board meets monthly. Board members are unpaid. The work can seem difficult and thankless at times, but rewarding in seeing our students’ success.
If you have questions on the roles of board members, please contact a current or past board member, or the district to learn more. If you are interested in ensuring that our district does not lose local control of this appointment, please consider volunteering to fill the vacancy. Remember the vacancy must be filled by someone in townships other than Annawan which are: Alba, Kewanee, Gold, Mineral, Cornwall, Loraine, or Yorktown Township.

JH Track Sectional Meet:
Annawan is hosting the IESA Sectional track meet at Wethersfield on Saturday, May 6. Start time is 9:00am. We are need of 1 more person to work tickets from 8:00 - 11:00am. The JV baseball game scheduled for today has been cancelled due to the varsity baseball game being moved from Saturday to today.

The DH with Galva scheduled for Saturday (4/22) has been moved to Monday (4/24) 4:00 start time in Annawan.

JH Track Tonight (4/20):
The Junior High Track meet scheduled for tonight at Wethersfield has been cancelled.
The Annawan School District is excited to announce the new high school principal for the 2023-24 school year. Matt Huber was hired last night by the Board of Education to replace Brad Hulick who is retiring at the end of this school year. Matt currently is a high school math teacher, athletic director, and a coach of several sports at the school. We are looking forward to working with Matt in his new position in the future.
