Dear Annawan School Community,

I hope this message finds you well and excited for the new school year! As we approach the three-week mark of the 2025-26 school year, I wanted to take a moment to highlight a few key points that will help ensure a positive and safe learning environment for all of our students.

Transportation:

A quick reminder to please exercise patience when encountering our school buses. When loading and unloading students, buses will flash yellow, then red, and extend a stop sign. During this time, we ask that all vehicles slow down and come to a complete stop. Your cooperation is vital to ensuring the safety of all students as they travel to and from school. We truly appreciate your diligence in this matter.

Inclement Weather:

In the event of inclement weather that requires us to shelter in place (such as a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning), our top priority is the safety of students and staff. Once everyone is safely sheltered, we will immediately update the community via social media. During this time, we kindly ask that parents respect the shelter-in-place protocol and refrain from coming to the school to pick up their children. Please note that our office staff will also be sheltering in place and will not be able to unlock the doors. We appreciate your understanding as we work to keep all students safe.

Threats at School:

In the rare event that a threat is made at school, student safety is our number one priority. Each threat is carefully evaluated by staff and administration, with support from local law enforcement as needed. We follow established protocols to ensure the safety of our school community, and appropriate actions will be taken. Notifications will be sent when necessary. We also recognize that pre-adolescent and adolescent students may not fully understand the consequences of their words or actions, but please be assured that we take all threats seriously and are committed to the safety of every student.

Students at Games:

We love seeing our students participate in and support our activities and events. A friendly reminder: younger students need to be supervised by parents during games and are expected to remain seated, unless visiting the concession stand or restrooms. We look forward to seeing everyone cheering on the Braves, Bravettes, and Titans—good luck to all!

Thank you for taking the time to read and consider these important points. By working together, I am confident that the 2025-26 school year will be a successful and rewarding one for all of our students.

Sincerely,

Jamie Bryan
